The Seafoam Pierced Earrings feature jade-colored crystal pearls and a surprise element — fish vertebra! They hang on sterling silver fishhook (no pun intended!) ear wires.
The use of fish vertebra in jewelry goes back to about the 8th or 9th century, when it is believed they were used in rosaries and other prayer beads. The bones used here in the Seafoam design series came from Africa, and are the by-products of fish that were harvested for food. No animals were harmed in order to make this jewelry.
